Preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) is one of the options in ART worldwide, and clinical research has started in Japan. Therefore, there is a possibility that the demand for it will increase further in the future. It is anticipated that PGT-A will increase the pregnancy rate per embryo transfer and decrease the miscarriage rate, resulting in an improvement in the live birth rate per embryo transfer. However, some authors have reported observing no improvement in results, and there is no agreement on the usefulness of PGT-A. Currently, the common procedure for PGT-A is biopsy of trophectoderm (TE) and next-generation sequencing (NGS), but questioning its usefulness cite technical problems. We would like to introduce the Laser & Pulling method used at our clinic to assist the adoption of the TE Biopsy technique which is not yet standardized. In addition, we describe the safe handling, storage, and transfer methods of TE samples after biopsy, to help determine a method that best suits individual IVF centers.
