Currently, embryo biopsy is mainly performed by trophectoderm (TE) biopsy. TE biopsy involves various steps such as embryo culture, embryo sorting, TE cell harvesting, tubing, storage of harvested cells, and blastocyst freezing after TE cell harvesting. For TE cell collection, we use the pulling-stretching method, in which cells are cut by laser irradiation, and a biopsy is performed without prior zona opening. In this method, the zona is opened simultaneously at the time of TE biopsy. The biopsy technique is an essential skill for embryologists and intracytoplasmic sperm injection; therefore, an accurate diagnosis may not be possible if the biopsy technique is unstable. The biopsy technique should be selected based on the merits and demerits of the various available methods.
